Petroleum Systems Modelling

Who should attend?

Petroleum geologists and exploration geologists involved in the evaluation of new petroleum systems

Overview:

Sedimentary basins are complex structural entities containing oil and gas accumulations. Basin modelling is a technique that allows you to reconstruct the burial and temperature history of a sedimentary basin. For these purposes petrophysical properties like thermal conductivities, heat capacities, permeabilites etc. are assigned to lithological units. According to physical and chemical laws the change of these rock specific parameters like temperature and pressure can be calculated. This course, which includes exercises (1D, 2D and 21/2 D depending on demand), is intended to promote confidence in the application of petroleum system modelling and assist in reducing uncertainty in new or frontier basins.
