Shear Velocity Modelling and Partial Stack Inversion with RockTrace and the Jason Geoscience Workbench
Who should attend:
Geophysicists who will be performing partial stack inversions with the RockTrace software. The course Trace Based Seismic Inversion with InverTracePlus and inversion experience are prerequisites for this course.
Overview:
Partial stack inversion is necessary in the presence of amplitude versus offset (AVO) effects. This 3-day course covers the basic concepts and software components necessary to perform partial stack seismic inversion in the Jason Geoscience Workbench. Since partial stack inversion requires shear velocity data, this course also includes basic modelling of shear velocities.
This course is intended for those who want to learn how to perform partial stack inversions. An overview of inversion and analysis of inversion results is taught in the 2-day Understanding and Analyzing the Results of Seismic Inversion course.
Contents:
- Introduction to AVO
- Shear sonic modelling
- Empirical methods
- Rock physics models
- Partial stack inversion
- Elastic impedance inversion
- Simultaneous inversion of multiple stacks
