Reservoir Modelling and Simulation
Who should attend?
Geologists with a non-engineering background, especially those who require an awareness and understanding of the components necessary to evaluate oil and gas accumulations.
Overview:
The course is designed to give non-engineers involved in integrated projects an introduction to numerical reservoir simulation. Emphasis will be placed on the collection and interpretation of primary data in the construction of models. The student will be introduced to the general approaches to modelling including history matching of field data and forecasting future performance.
Content:
- Construction of a reservoir simulation model
- Gathering data for a reservoir simulation model
- Utilisation of core analysis

- Production and injection data
- Completion data
- Grid systems
- Primary reservoir engineering
- Pressure transient tests
- Material balance studies
- Model initialisation
- Compositional modelling
