Field Development and Planning Workshop
Proposed Duration:
4-6 weeks
Who Should Attend:
Multidisciplinary teams (4-5 persons with a maximum of 20 per workshop) of petroleum geologists, geophysicists and engineers (from 0-10 years experience) who are involved in integrated regional projects, basin evaluations and prospect identification.
Overview:
The Field Development and Planning Workshop takes the teams through the work process and assist them in understanding the building blocks in Field Development and Planning. The workshop will allow the attendees to consider the wide range of relevant issues and their implications.
Objectives:
It is intended that the attendees will undertake the work to allow them to deliver a well reasoned, defendable long-term development strategy and plan for the newly appraised Oil Field. The initial plan will target to attain and maintain a predetermined plateau rate for a required number of years.
The attendees will develop skills to:
- Assess reservoir productivity and ultimate oil recovery based on reservoir geological model, rock and fluid properties and stipulated drive mechanism(s);
- Identify and manage uncertainties in terms of hydrocarbon volumes, reservoir variability, productivity, and drive mechanism;
- Calculate well inflow performance, design completion in accordance to well deliverability, consider environmental and facilities issues, and assess economic benefits;
- Come up with field development and further appraisal/data gathering strategy to develop a robust plan that minimises exposure, and maintains flexibility (so as to adjust/revise plan as new data become available); and
- Address field/reservoir management surveillance issues
Dataset:
Training will provide role-play in the simulation of a real situation using either an extensive Fugro Robertson database or the client's own data. The database will include:
- Field, production and data, including: DST, RFT, well tests, routine and special core analyses, PVT analyses, water analyses.
- Field analogies relating to producing reservoirs in the area
Content:
Groups will conduct the project work themselves under the supervision and guidance of Fugro Robertson staff:
- Module 1 - Project Management and Field
- Module 2 - Reservoir Modelling, dynamic model
- Module 3 - Economic analysis and scenario design
- Module 4 - Development drilling
- Module 5 - Production Operations
- Module 6 - Final Presentation
