Commitment Training

Many oil companies today acknowledge that their staff training requirements can be accomplished more conveniently and cost effectively by using external training providers. International exploration contracts frequently necessitate training commitments for nationals of the countries concerned. The Fugro Robertson Training Centre can design, manage and execute such commitment programmes on behalf of companies, including the supply of peripheral courses such as English Language training and various downstream management courses. Commitment training can be undertaken either at the Training Centre in North Wales or in the country concerned. In recent years the Training Centre has been commissioned to provide this type of training for nationals from Algeria, Angola, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Mozambique and Vietnam in all aspects of petroleum geology, geophysics and engineering. Similar training programmes can also be designed and implemented for companies wishing to bring their new recruits quickly up to speed.

Attachment Training or On-the-job Training

Fugro Robertson conducts many large integrated projects on both a non-exclusive and proprietary basis for oil companies and governments. These include multidisciplinary regional/basinal assessments of petroleum potential, studies of a thematic nature, often on a global scale, and more detailed field studies examining such aspects as sandbody distribution, connectivity, petrophysics and production scenarios. Many of these projects provide the opportunity to train client employees by allowing them to work alongside Fugro Robertson's own professionals in a real project situation. Skills transfer by attachment to such projects has been a significant part of Fugro Robertson training in the last ten years with trainees from many countries having participated in the scheme. The programmes usually involve a combination of instruction, individual work within the project and additional short courses or field courses. Each programme is designed to suit the trainees' requirements
