The following technique offered by Fugro Robertson is proposed as an alternative to the techniques of chemostratigraphy and cyclicity/cyclolog analysis. Spectral gamma data processing and interpretation at Fugro Robertson is focused into two related products, GAMMASTRAT™ and GAMMAFACIES™.

GAMMASTRAT™

GAMMASTRAT™is a tool to aid the subdivision/zonation and correlation of wells, especially in strata with only restricted biostratigraphic recovery. Where biostratigraphic data is good, GAMMASTRAT™ is often complimentary and can aid the determination of precise stratigraphic boundaries.

GAMMAFACIES™

GAMMAFACIES™, by contrast, focuses on local relative concentrations of the radioactive which may help to interpret sedimentary processes in uncored intervals and, as such, can be complimentary to GAMMASTRAT™. Ideally GAMMAFACIES&trade analysis is combined with, and calibrated from, detailed sedimentological analyses of cores, image logs and/or petrographic analysis of ditch cuttings, however, it can be used on its own for a more speculative investigative approach.
