Core and outcrop description

Fugro Robertson offers a comprehensive range of core-related services. Specialist analyses expand the data derived from core, to produce additional information of reservoir heterogeneity and architecture. We specialise in client-driven problem solving where core description is undertaken with a view to solving specific problems, such as calibrating cores with log analyses and petrophysics. These data are routinely produced as fully digital core description packages.

Detailed core description

The detailed visual description of core can be undertaken at any scale requested by the client, normally 1:20, 1:50 or 1:200 scales. Both clastic and carbonate cores are graphically logged on pre-prepared logging sheets, typically recording lithology (and accessories), grains size and sedimentary structures, macrodiagenetic features, bioturbation index, quantitative ichnofabric analysis, facies analysis/coding, palaeoenvironmental interpretation, hydrocarbon shows, colours, dip data, fracture logging, etc. Our team of experienced sedimentologists also offer specialist description of horizontal and highly deviated wells as well as integration with FMI/Borehole image logs and conventional wireline logs.
