Fugro Robertson Press Release
Multiclient Reports: Completed in 2006 and earlier
01 July 2008Fugro Robertson is a world leader in non-exclusive, multi-client reports and digital datasets. For over 40 years it has been producing high quality products to support new ventures and exploration activities all over the world.
Prospectivity of the Onshore Basins of Brazil
Completed 2006
The rationale for the study was to technically review up to 6 onshore basins of Brazil. The main aim of the first phase was to provide a broad regional understanding of the prospectivity of the various onshore basins together with a listing of the potentially available data, which may be accessed for a future Phase 2 follow on study. It was not the intention of the first phase of the project to generate data analysis but to provide a broad understanding of the data that potentially could be accessed in future work to address current technical issues and to further understand the prospectivity of these onshore basins.
Drainage Development and Hinterland Analysis of the Orinoco River, Northern South America
Completed 2005
Fugro Robertson undertook this study in an attempt to improve understanding of the nature and evolution of Tertiary sediment supply to the northern margin of South America. An investigation of the evolution of river systems in eastern Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana, as well as northern Brazil and eastern Peru, was undertaken, in order to establish the full evolution of the Orinoco River.
The report utilises techniques and workflows developed at Fugro Robertson, involving drainage network and large-scale geomorphological analyses of hinterland areas and their subsequent integration with a targeted structural, palaeogeographic and palaeoclimatic review. In this way, improved understanding of sediment supply evolution is achieved, enabling confident evaluation of its potential impact on clastic reservoir distribution and quality within a given study area, in this instance the offshore depositional basins of northern South America.
The study locates potential alternative outfalls for the Orinoco system. It accounts for the effects these alternatives would have on the evolution of the watershed(s) and identifies the major controls on that evolution in order to develop a model of drainage evolution through time. The report is presented in digital and hard copy formats.
Frontier Source Rocks of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Countries
Completed 2005
Fugro Robertson has undertaken this study to investigate the potential source rocks that could exist throughout the stratigraphic column in the many basins comprising the North African and Levant regions of the Mediterranean seaboard. The study focuses on predicting mature generative source rocks in basins throughout the study area, in both little-explored 'frontier' areas, and areas where novel plays have not been evaluated.
The study area extends from 14°W to 44°E and from 16°N to 39°N, and includes basins onshore throughout North Africa and the Levant countries, including southeast Turkey, Israel, northwest Saudi Arabia and northern Iraq. Twelve time periods during which source rocks may have developed have been highlighted from the Fugro Robertson geochemical database and palaeogeographic reconstructions have been compiled using PALEOMAP. The study uses existing data from the comprehensive Fugro Robertson database, supplemented by extensive searches of the literature, data from 2150 wells, 130 shallow boreholes (including DSDP and ODP), 535 outcrop sample sites and 500 items of broad, non-specific information relating to areas or regions rather than wells. The report is presented in digital and hard copy formats.
