This is the latest model of the Rock-Eval Analyser and Fugro Robertson is currently the only company in the UK to own one.
Characterisation of organic matter via pyrolysis provides important information on potential, maturity and type of source rocks.
Applications of the additional features of the new instrument include:
- Extended temperature range (100°C to 850°C as opposed to previous 180°C to 600°C) allowing more accurate determination of the Hydrogen Index for Type III organic matter
- Extended validity of Tmax to higher values Lower initial pyrolysis temperature allows detailed study of the free hydrocarbons in rocks
- Improved kinetic parameters determination for Type III source rocks
- Improved calculation of the Oxygen Index
