AVO/AVA analysis

Analysis of amplitude variations versus offset, or angle of incidence, (AVO/AVA) is one of the most commonly utilized direct hydrocarbon indicators in exploration reflection seismology.

Fugro-Robertson offers a range of AVO/AVA analyses to identify seismic anomalies and to link the seismic attributes with rock physics.

Processing and analysis of seismic CDP gathers

• Enhanced colour displays of AVO indicators (intercept, gradient etc)
• Anomalies studied using cross plot methodology

Forward modelling from edited and corrected wire line log data

• Effective and total porosity calculated (with hydrocarbon corrections)
• Lithologies identified
• Averages for water saturation, clay content, net and gross pay determined

AVO analysis of synthetic gathers

• Log and seismic data imported to Hampson-Russell software
• Zero-offset and full offset synthetic seismograms generated
• Fluid substitution modelled to determine fluid type in zone of interest
