Tellus spatial data is stored in a central data repository called a Geodatabase, this can either be for a single-user (Personal Geodatabase), or multi-user (SDE Geodatabase) environment.
Each map layer is stored as a dataset called a feature class, which is a collection of geographic features, with the same geometry type (such as point, line or polygon), the same attribute fields, and the same spatial reference. For example, ALL reservoirs for ALL plays have been grouped into one feature class called 'Reservoirs'. Tellus maintains a consistent attribute field schema for all layers, and the attribute fields are populated using data dictionaries to ensure a standard throughout the Tellus product suite.
The Tellus Toolbar allows the user to select which map they wish to view, then uses these feature classes, their attribute fields and the extensive Tellus data model, to retrieve and display themed maps within ArcMap. They are displayed using Tellus legend symbology for a consistent cartographic display throughout the dataset.
